Career prospects
The Doctoral Programme in Linguistics trains new highly qualified doctors, able to perform research and teaching activities in different countries. It contributes to the development of knowledge in Linguistics, a domain of both Cognitive and Social Sciences, where questions on language representation, acquisition and processing are discussed, under comparative synchronic or diachronic perspectives. The impact on the social structure is substantial: FLUL prepares researchers whose professional activity has social repercussions in domains such as language technology, language diagnosis and intervention, anthropology, history, language teaching, translation, forensic research, psychology, or sociology. As the main goal of the Programme is preparing autonomous researchers, this preparation is undertaken in tight connection with CLUL ((Centro de Linguística da Universidade de Lisboa: http://www.clul.ulisboa.pt/pt/)), with the aim of providing a stimulating research environment to the students.
