Application of geophysical techniques in marine geology and environmental impact
- 2022/2023
- 2º Semestre
Use of acoustic and magnetic marine geophysical techniques to characterize the geological substrate of the continental shelf. These are techniques used in the environmental characterization of the territory applied to the study of natural hazards, mineral resources, living resources and habitat mapping. The course is intended to be of the “turnkey” type in order to stimulate the student for further studies, whether of a more technical or scientific nature. Thus, the student will practice everything from marine data acquisition aboard an oceanographic vessel to the final product, including theory, computer practice in workstations and state-of-the-art software, signal processing, interpretation and report production. The Eco-acoustics module aims to raise awareness and educate the student for the preservation and conservation of animals and the environment, providing non-invasive tools to assess the impact of noise on marine organisms.
