The main aim of this course is to provide training in qualitative data analysis using software so as to ensure knowledge of the main tools and resources currently available in this area, as well as of trends in this field. A strong and diversified conceptual and epistemological component will be combined with practical and operational training, enabling participants to learn what the available options are and thus give the right orientation to their work. Particular emphasis will be given to content analysis as a methodological approach which can be used to interact with software tools which support the research process and data analysis.
This course will provide opportunities for carrying out operations with the most common types and sources of data, including interviews, focus groups, images, tabulated data, legal instruments, press cuttings, bibliographical references, audio and video files, and data derived from new digital sources such as web pages and social networks. Assisted practical activities will be combined with a broad set of supporting materials, including detailed tutorials for future reference.
