Provide a perspective on contemporary discussions on Plantation, Plantationoscene, legacy of slavery, labor migration, economic and ecological dynamics, combining academic rigor and outreach to wider audiences. It will be a "hands on" experience, with the presence of specialists in the different themes and visits to the places in question (Vale do Sado, Alentejo interior), bringing to the debate the historical and contemporary dimensions of monoculture and the experience of labor migrations, transformations of physical and social landscape, memory of work and malaria, etc. Speakers come from the fields of anthropology, history, history of science and technology, sociology, medical anthropology, with some guests from the fields of art, cinema, Afro-descendant activism, landscaping and contemporary agricultural production. The working languages will be English and Portuguese.
