The Mestrado Degree in Social Policy aims to qualify its graduates with advanced training in Social Policy, as a social science and as a socio-political practice, in order to prepare professionals to perform specialized technical work, of high complexity, in contexts of integrated governance.
This Mestrado Degree promotes the development of applied and multidisciplinary research in a diverse set of fields and issues, namely: social problems and diagnoses, political-institutional dimensions of welfare governance; historical and comparative dimensions of the welfare state; organizational and community dynamics of well-being and inclusion - including the practices and challenges of Social Work; evaluation of processes and effects of social policies.
The MA adopts a global perspective, with a strong emphasis on social justice and the ability to influence policy and transform societies towards increasing human well-being and promoting sustainable, just and inclusive societies.
To provide highly specialized knowledge in the area of public welfare policies that underpins the capacity for reflection and applied research;
Develop specialized skills for solving complex problems and improving the quality of social policies;
Develop skills in collecting, organizing, and critically analyzing scientific information, as well as disseminating autonomous research findings;
To provide a favorable academic environment for the continuation of advanced studies (doctoral level).
