Promotion of psychoeducational skills in parents to improve the quality of parent-child relationships, their harmonious development and the family well-being
Sumário

Being a father/mother is one of the greatest challenges of adult life, involving multiple demands and responsibilities, in a world marked by rapid and accentuated changes in social structures, namely family structures, and by a greater questioning of parental roles. In this scenario, theoretical models and the results of scientific research in the field of Psychology have contributed to important knowledge and recommendations about the parental role, which include aspects such as childhood and adolescence development, importance of early relationships, parenting styles and their impacts on the well-being of children and family, communication skills and conflict management, among others. This course is aimed at fathers/mothers (and parents to be) and its general objective is to contribute to the positive performance of the parental role. More specifically, it aims to promote psychoeducational knowledge and skills in parents, with a view to improving the quality of the parent-child relationship, their harmonious development and the well-being of the family. The course's curricular structure and study plan lasts for one academic semester, covering a variety of thematic modules, corresponding to a total of 30 ECTS. The classes, within each thematic module, combine the learning of concepts with moments of group reflection and exercises of an applied nature.
